Getting mugged in Buenos Aires is apparently not enough to scare the Bush twins out of Argentina. In fact, even the U.S. Embassy's request that they leave isn't sufficient to deter them from their plans to spend their birthday week wreaking havoc in another country.
Amid a growing barrage of front-page headlines, U.S. embassy officials "strongly suggested" President Bush's twin daughters, Jenna and Barbara Bush, cut short their trip to Buenos Aires because of security issues, U.S. diplomatic and security sources tell ABC News.
But the girls have stayed on, celebrating their 25th birthday over the weekend and producing even more headlines about their activities.
Officials say the media coverage upstaged publicity plans for the new U.S. Ambassador Anthony Wayne, who had only recently arrived in the country.
more insanely bratty behavior here.

Oh, "security issues". That's what they're calling it now.

The combo of psychologically twisted, substance abusing parents, the resultant lack of parenting skills, and a fundie worldview.

This kind of stuff just makes me terribly sad. I wonder if these girls even have a clue that there are people in their home city who have to pawn their work tools to get money for medicine for their baby. I'll bet 1/10th of their bar tab could send every member of a six person family to a dentist for the first time ever.
I'd rather think that they don't have a clue, that they've just been sheltered in their little bubbles of entitlement and cannot connect statistics to actual people, than that they are well aware and just don't give a shit.

25... that's draft age, isn't it?

I blame the parents.

I blame Bar, and her Jaws of Death. No good ever spewed from that orifice.

And furthermore, why aren't their antics being covered on Fox, and relayed to our beloved troops? Shouldn't they get to enjoy the hijinks of our heirs-apparent?

Lynne: Why yes, 25 is draft age. But I'm guessing that Jenna and NotJenna won't not be climbing into a uniform soon. Well, not a uniform that isn't on someone else.

Those are not "girls". They are 25, well past the age of puberty and self-responsibility. Girls are prepubescent females. The Bush Twins are adults. Antics which might be cute in a child are insufferable in an adult.
Doped-up bitches, yes! Drunken tarts, yes! Women-of-the-world, yes! Ladies-of-easy-virtue, yes! Girls, no!
Dare we inquire why Saddam's son had photos of the Bush Twins in his pink pleasure palace?
Daughters of rich Texans are brought up to find and marry men who will become rich and successful. If they are doing their spouse-hunting in bars, the prospective suitors ought to fit right in with the Bush family values.
Hmmm... I wonder if the Secret Service detail will continue after they marry? Or if the responsibility of guarding them can be handed off?
The great pity is that they could be doing so much of value if they championed a cause: disabled children, reuniting families after displacement, getting pets back to owners after disasters, women's health, anything where youth and energy and connections and an ability to travel could help. Instead, they get drunk and disorderly night after night.
Wasted.
