CISARUA, INDONESIA - Dema (male) the 26-day-old endangered Sumatran Tiger cub cuddles up to 5-month-old female Orangutan, Irma at the 'Taman Safari Indonesia' Animal Hospital, on February 26, 2007 in Cisarua, Bogor Regency, West Java, Indonesia. Irma and another orangutan have been rejected by their mothers while two Sumatran tiger-cubs (including Dema) also born in the hospital, have also been rejected by their mother Cicis and are being looked after by staff at the Animal Hospital.
(I had to blow up the thumbnail version of this photo, which is why it's rather grainy. The site at which I found the pic is having bad linky issues.)
UPDATE: Ah. Here.

Ohhh, that is so cute. And so sad. Why did their mothers reject them? And will zoo handlers have the sense to separate them before the tiger figures out how tasty an orangutan is?

The recent zoo killing of an employee by a big cat. After the employee was killed by the cat, zoo people killed the cat.
I just do not know why the cat was killed. The cat forgot for a second all he had been told and remembered her (his?) identity and that , lo and behold, she was a cat. Dogs who kill people and live in loose and non-consistent environs need to be killed but these cats, already living in a prison, are not free to roam and kill again. Does anyone know of the valid reasons why these creatures are destroyed?

Sightunseen --
I agree with you, but in this case (from what I read), the jaguar was apparently moving on the persons who were attempting to save the victim. The whole thing is just so sad.

It follows Owen, a hippo who survived the 2005 tsunami, and a tortoise named Mzee who is his best friend. They still live together!

We all need touching. With more caresses and fewer bars, there might be fewer incidents of aggression, too.
