WASHINGTON - The Senate gridlocked on the Iraq war in a sharply worded showdown Saturday as Republicans foiled a Democratic bid to repudiate President Bush's deployment of 21,500 additional combat troops.
The 56-34 vote fell four short of the 60 needed to advance a nonbinding measure identical to what the House passed Friday.
. . .
Sen. Joseph Lieberman of Connecticut, an independent who caucuses with the Democrats, sided with Republicans on the vote.
Not a big surprise there. Fucking douchebag. Holy Joe even managed to make it in on the Sabbath to cast his vote.
More here.

Really, who should be held accountable are the Republican voters of Connecticut, without whom Lieberman would have been in a far tighter race facing, perhaps, a less positive outcome.
When Joey went a'whoring for Mel Sembler's money, that was all the dogwhistle they needed.
He is their creature, and history will wrap him around them like an old gasoline filled tire.

So who was Joe's shabbos goy?

Joe is his own shabbos goy, and he's also a bit of a heretic, to boot.
He probably broke at least several of the rules about what you're not supposed to do on Shabbat (there are 39 categories), including "burning" (which he violated if he drove anywhere, or intentionally if he was driven anywhere in a private vehicle), "writing," and "selecting" (which would seem to me to cover voting). Tsk tsk. Joe, if you're going to make out that you're more Orthodox than thou, the goyim* shouldn't be able to catch you at khilul Shabbat, hmmm...

Shabbos goy? He's a Kapo.

What Zakman said.
And what watertiger said...
And I can't print what I said...

Last summer's LieberYouth must have tied their tzitzis into a embroidered table cloth by this afternoon over Joe desecrating shabbat.

New name shall be:
Joe "Skipping Sabbath for more death" Liberman....

Kapo? Sonderkommando might be more accurate (the Kapos were usually non-Jews). Why do I get the feeling he's just as doomed as they were? As I've wanted to tell him for years now, most of his "friends" are not his friends.
Of course, since he's a complete idiot, he doesn't get this. I've been waiting for him to figure it out for years, and instead of getting closer to figuring it out, it seems like he's just gotten further and further from it.

Just waiting for 2008. With a couple of democratic wins for the senate, Holy Joe becomes officially irrelevant, as he deserves.

"Saturday, Donny, is Shabbos, the Jewish day of rest. That means that I don't work, I don't get in a car, I don't fucking ride in a car, I don't pick up the phone, I don't turn on the oven, and I sure as shit DON'T FUCKING ROLL!! SHOMER SHABBOS!!!"

What do you expect from someone who's last name starts with Lie?

Being as high and mighty as J-Ho is and the fact that his participation was to keep a war going that is in the interest of AIPAC and the radical zionists (to my astonishment there a are whole communities of US expat/settlers in the West Bank!?!?) he probably got a special ordained get-out-of-shabbat card.

Well, I suppose there's no reason Lieberman's Judaism should be any more sincere than Bush's Christianity. I think that Jewish teacher Jesus wouldn't have any patience with either of them.

I wonder if this was the real reason that they scheduled the vote for a Saturday? To either keep Joe out, or at least demonstrate that his phoniness extends to his faith as well as everything else.

Reid isn't my favorite, but he knows Holy Joe and he knew Joe would be there. Reid did it to punish the republicans by making them work on a Saturday. They apparently were steamed.
