Randi Rhodes "mugged" while walking her dog on Sunday night.
Hate crime? I'll wait for the police report, but it seems awfully suspicious - no jewelry, no wallet. Just outspoken liberal political positions.
Nice country we've got here.
UPDATE: From the Air America website -
October 16-NEW YORK-On Sunday evening, October 14, Air America host
Randi Rhodes experienced an unfortunate incident hindering her from
hosting her show. The reports of a presumed hate crime are unfounded.
Ms. Rhodes looks forward to being back on the air on Thursday.
UPDATE II: The Daily News is reporting that Randi "fell".

The fact that we even have to speculate whether this is a hate act...just damn.
Well like I just said over at Aravosis, as long as Randi has breath, she's tougher than any of these pussy bastards. Dead Dick and his brownshirts are fucking with the wrong girl.

(((((((Randi)))))))

The comments over there are just precious. You know, if you're trying to make the case that liberals are jumping the gun when they speculate if this was a politically motivated attack, you might want to hold off on comments like, "...maybe the beating will improve her looks."

Yes. In once sentance they protest against the idea it might have been a targeted hit on her, and in the next sentance they express their hatred for her.
Nice.

The comments over there are disgusting - particularly the one dan mcenroe quoted above. Hoping she recovers fully and quickly.

Just followed the link. Overwhelmed by the conservative compassion being shown in the comments. Apparently Drudge had a link to the article, which opened a portal to the right wing slime pit.
Without more information, I do think it's a bit premature to call it a hate crime and blame it on the right. It feeds into bad stereotypes of Democrats. Not that I would be surprised if it turns out to be a political crime, but let's just for more facts.

dan mcenroe,
You can walk a mile in my shoes, but you can't dance a step in my feet.
Try bein' there.
How come Thom Hartmann got 3 bullet holes in his car door?
Is that all you niggers got, is guns?
I'll tell you what is really scary, Niggers With Guns.
Throws a chill on y'all warm-ass abodes, all cozy in the slum you think you are living in.
You do not know 1/8th of the deal...

With the degree of right-wing hate out there, sorry, I'm inclined to believe it's a hate crime until the investigation determines otherwise. And frankly, I'm not sure how far I trust "official" investigations nowadays.
Shit, at least our side only throws the occasional cream pie.

Randi needs a bigger dog. Let's get her a mastiff or something.
Hope she recovers quickly....

If it happened to MM or BO or RO, there
would be a line-up of 30 DFHs in ten minutes.
There'd be a non-stop trumpeting of "hate crime" that wouldn't stop for eternity. AND they'd blame it on Bill Clinton.

Well, you know it WAS Bill Clinton's fault, because he lied about BJs
Posted by: wa ching | October 16, 2007 at 04:19 PM
Well, whatever the fuck happened, I still blame the goddamn Buscisti.
