Supporting the troops.

In a blatant effort to foist the costs of his fundraising trip for Senator John Cornyn of Texas onto the taxpayers of the United States, Bush stopped off at the Center for the Intrepid at Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio, Texas for a meet and greet with the veterans of his Great Folly.  Because nothing says "I support the troops" like a photo op/cost savings with the horribly maimed and disfigured.

And our own military have never, ever seen and survived such devastating injuries.
The statistics about the permanent brain damage suffered by our military, is staggering.

Y'know, the very first thing that hit me about these pictures is that underneath the scars, there are such young faces.

The second thing was that I'd seen this before, when I took a wrong turn into the burn ward at Tripler Army Hospital in 1970.
