He's 17 years old; hardly old enough to comprehend having a girlfriend pregnant, let alone having the maturity to think long-term (except for his own loss of youthful freedom) about raising a child -- now he's being forced into the national spotlight. Heck, we have child stars, more acclimated to the price of fame than these two kids, and a majority of them become major-league screw-ups. What hope do these two have, with less experience behind them, in facing this impending trainwreck in the public eye?

I have a 17-year-old son, and I've been using this as a teaching moment--THIS is what happens when you have unprotected sex. (Actually, I tell my daughter (14) the same thing. Look at that poor kid--he's going to have to pay forever for being stupid, unprepared and horny.

About that "thing" on the left side of McCain's face: it's a complication of his melanoma surgery. It's called lymphedema and causes a kind of water balloon-type swelling. Apparently the removal of the chunk of skin and melanoma from his face affected the lymph draining system in that area.
