Well, that answers that.
Bristol Palin is pregnant now.
So much for that "abstinence only" education.
UPDATE: Sarah Palin would oppose abortion even if her own daughter were raped. That'll bring in the female voters, for sure!

HEAVY VETTING, of course. (yes, it can get you pregnant!)

So, to combat boredom during her mono, she was having sex?
Posted by: Buckeye, Dealer of Rare Coins | September 01, 2008 at 12:22 PM
Wtf does this have to do with the other kid? How are we supposed to keep up with all these fucking babies?
Posted by: Sharkbabe | September 01, 2008 at 12:29 PM
insofar as the campaign was trying to ratfuck the opposition, the "Trig is Bristol's baby" meme is being utilized to smear "liberal bloggers" (some of whom, myself included, were having a ball contemplating the possibilities).
The NYT is already blaming Obama's camp for participating in this.
But my basic point stands: who the fuck, after leaking amniotic fluid in Texas, gets on a plane so she can have her baby in a backwoods hospital in Alaska?

What a freaking sideshow.
Posted by: Cilantro | September 01, 2008 at 12:33 PM
What Cilantro said.
This makes the family out to be glorified white trash.
And Palin is on record saying that she opposes abortion even if her own daughter were raped.
Family values!

She's preggers again?
So much for home school sex education...

As to leaking amniotic fluid...30 years ago, as a young, fit, first-time mother-to-be, expecting a totally normal delivery and newborn, my water broke exactly one week before my due date--leaking, not burst, as in Sarah Palin's case. My obstetrician, when notified, told me that as of that moment, I was officially in danger of infection, and I was told to come to the hospital, prepared to stay--I would not be leaving until the baby was born, precisely because of the threat of infection. I was not then in active labor, but my baby (first one, remember) was born 12 hours later. Contrast that to a woman who has had four previous deliveries, this one expected to be a special needs infant, and the whole get-on-a-plane scenario doesn't pass the smell test. Has obstetrics changed that much in 30 years?

Can it be that no one is thinking yet that this new pregnancy is imaginary, to dispute the previous rumors? She will miscarry soon, and we will all be so sorry.

In November 2006, then gubernatorial candidate Sarah Palin declared that she would not support an abortion for her own daughter even if she had been raped.
Granting exceptions only if the mother's life was in danger, Palin said that when it came to her daughter, "I would choose life."
At the time, her daughter was 14 years old. Moreover, Alaska's rape rate was an abysmal 2.2 times above the national average and 25 percent of all rapes resulted in unwanted pregnancies. But Palin's position was palatable within the state's largely Republican political circles.
Now that she's John McCain's vice presidential candidate, Palin's abortion policy (among others) is undergoing renewed scrutiny. The Alaska Republican has long declared herself pro-life. And her credentials on the topic make her the belle of the ball among religious conservatives. But Democrats and abortion rights advocates say her stance, specifically her unwillingness to grant her own child a choice to end a pregnancy induced by rape, is drastically at odds with public opinion -- even among many Republicans.
"This is absolutely outside the mainstream. Even in South Dakota they rejected [outlawing abortion in cases of rape] in '06 because it has gone too far and everyone can identify that in a case of rape or incest a woman should have the chance to make the decision with their family or doctor," said Nancy Keenan, president of NARAL Pro Choice America. "Women voters are going to reject both her and John McCain, and I think we see it specifically because we reach out to Republicans and independent pro-choice women. They live in the suburbs and exurbs. They are very much part of the mainstream America. And woman in general will reject that ticket."

I once thought I was good at math, but I can't figure out how if Bristol had a baby in April/May then how can she be 5 months preggers in late August unless she got knocked up by her OBGYN the night of the delivery. WOW This shit just keeps getting better!
Posted by: queek | September 01, 2008 at 01:18 PM
Wonder if she was home-schooled?
And no way McCain would have picked Palin if he knew ... imagine the screaming fit he's having right now.
Posted by: blogenfreude | September 01, 2008 at 01:21 PM
What a fucked up philosophy. Since having a rape baby is the will of the lord, I guess that means the lord must have sent the rapist to do his will. Or the short version: God rapes women.
How do these people's heads not explode with the contradictions?

Odd that McCake would deign to empower liberal blogs with the ability to dictate how his campaign would handle this.
Posted by: shpx.ohfu | September 01, 2008 at 01:38 PM
rape? she doesn't believe you can have an abortion if it will HARM her daughter's future fertility or life. only if bristol would die. incubating is GREAT!

If you truly believe that a conceptus is a human being with a soul from the moment that the sperm penetrates the ovum, then the conceptus is innocent and should not be aborted for any reason. It is logically consistent, and like a lot of religious ideas, morally repugnant.

Wait! Could Laura have been pregnant?

Bride to Nowhere!

SueCris, my thoughts exactly!
And Queek - let's see if there's a 'miscarriage' before the 'wedding'.
BHO was saying that the family is off limits, that it's none of our affair?! That pissed ME off. If the woman is lying about her birthing the child, she falsified records/lied/etc...that's been proferred before. Now she may well be lying her ass off again using her daughter's uterus as a human-being-incubating shield...ODIOUS!!!
Now, wait just a gol' darned minute here - she 'found out' early in the pregnancy that Trig had Down Syndrome?!?! That means she (or someone, cough cough) had an amniocentesis, aren't Anti-Choicers against that? Since there's a risk of spontaneous miscarriage? And why have one if there's that potentiality OR even why bother finding out if there's something wrong w/the fetus - because they sure as hell won't abort it?!?!
How DARE she dictate to the rest of the women of this country/world how to deal with our own psyches/bodies!?!?!
I am sooo way over this b.s.!!!
