about joining the 21st century:
"We certainly don't believe that race has any part in the political discourse," [McCain spokeswoman] Gitcho said.
But here in Buchanan County, it is unavoidable.
A local newspaper columnist, in a spoof of Obama’s platform, wrote in one recent piece that the Democrat would hire the rapper Ludacris to paint the White House black (a reference to a pro-Obama song by Ludacris), and divert more foreign aid to Africa so "the Obama family there can skim enough to allow them to free their goats and live the American Dream." He joked that Obama would replace the 50 stars on the U.S. flag "with a star and crescent logo," an Islamic symbol, and that his policy on drugs would be to "raise taxes to pay for Obama's inner-city political base."
The columnist, Bobby May, is also treasurer of the Buchanan County Republican Party and was listed in a July news release as the county's representative on McCain's Virginia leadership team, though he said his column reflected his views alone, and he denied it was racist.
"Macaca McCain" certainly is alliterative.

He might want to pook up the word "spoof" there.

Sorry, "look" up.

This 'spoof' sounds a lot like the 'spoof' from an Arizona columnist, a radical conservative, who said Obama wouldn't stand for the National Anthem because it was composed during a battle and therefore to warlike. He has Obama supposing he would stand if the song was something "I'd like to buy the World a Coke". It was a 'spoof' but it was written in full knowledge it would be passed of as fact. I still have the email although I don't open stuff from this old guy anymore because it just pisses me off people are so damn dumb to believe this crap.

Used to live in the Southeast. Many wonderful people. And also several so unreconstructed that you can't believe they're not joking about it. Still, to their credit, people from Virginia and North Carolina can recognize a dog whistle faster than most, on account of hearing them more often.

So is this the same guy who wrote the screenplay for "An American Carol"?

Yeah, like the amount of melanin in somebody's skin is relevant to - anything. Kind of like gender, height, hair texture, etc.
Thing is, it's not as though on Monday there were Neandertals and on Tuesday there were only Homo sapiens (not that there was anything wrong with Neandertals, it's just an example). The inadequate forms tend to die out eventually but continue to exist while the more successful forms are ascending.
So, you know, those inbred pinheads who think this kind of thing is witty and believe that other people give a flying Philadelphia fuck about meaningless superficialities are still among us.
Which is most unfortunate.

sadly -- this is just the beginning of the nastiest four weeks in american political history

We live in Northern VA and had to make the long trek to Walter Reed in DC yesterday. I was so happy to see so many Obama/Biden signs. I estimate for every on McPalin sign, there was at least 3-4 Obama/Biden signs. I am registered in Texas(sending my ballot off tomorrow) but I was happy to see that I am back in a purply area. After living in Hawaii for three years, Texas was HORRIBLE.

I live in Northern Virginia too and I was appalled and insulted by us being called communists. Typical Republicans! Calling anyone that doesn't agree with them names. Tolerance my ass. They are about as tolerant as a Klansman.
Hoping Virginia goes to Obama.

Many of these in the south are the democrats who jumped ship after LBJ signed the Civil Rights Act.
Racism is the core of southern culture and history, that's a fact. It ain't going to die an easy death. The Republicans have cashed in on racism since Nixon. If Obama wins it will turn the racist idiots inside out. It would be a beautiful thing.

McCain became MacaCain when he ran down to Norfolk Virginia to bail out George Allen immediately after George got caught calling Mr. Siddarth the n-word in french. Some of us have been calling him MacaCain ever since. Republican racist ratbags.

Be of good cheer, fellow Northern Virginians! In a month, we'll shove those words right up May's macaca.

Hey, how's that Macaca Allen minority outreach program going for the Republicans? Has anyone heard any more about that?
I still can't believe they picked him to be their point person to reach out to minority group members. Irony is alive and well.
