I cannot wait to read the transcripts of Cheney's secret energy meetings that took place in the fall of 2001(?)!
He might have to have a heart attack and go lay on the beach with Kenny Boy!

If Darth is lying on a beach with Kenny Lay, I hope small, industrious children bury them in sand...

And I was still feeling good about the smackdown he gave during his inaugural speech.
I could get used this.

Not to rain on anybody's parade, but if you look at the Wikipedia page on 13233 it appears that it might be a few years yet before any Bush administration records come out (do I read this correctly?) - Jeff

I thought that kid had an honest face...I watched the conference over lobbying on CBC today and it was pretty cool.
Not bad for his first day at work!!!!!!!

hot damn, the winds of change are blowing! LOL!
Posted by: sukabi | January 21, 2009 at 11:36 PM
Quite right, Jeff - the 12 year limit as mandated by 44 U.S.C. § 2201–2207 for between 5 to 12 years.
But 13233 wasn't enacted to protect Junior's records. It was for Reagan's...and Poppy's.
;>)
Posted by: darkblack | January 22, 2009 at 01:27 AM
Didn't junior hide his National Guard desertion and the drunk driving records in with his father's papers?
Posted by: hauksdottir | January 22, 2009 at 06:34 AM
If I'm reading it right, former Presidents can still invoke Executive Privilege to keep documents secret.
Posted by: Don | January 22, 2009 at 07:27 AM
Thanks darkblack - I believe we're at a point that some of the shenanigans of the Iran-Contra era may be unearthed over the next couple years. Important in large part due to that whole sunlight=disinfectant thing, but also useful for further damaging the brand. And who among us wouldn't like to see Ollie perp-walk again?
And it would appear that the Executive Privilege claims that Don mentions are very unlikely to have the company of the Solicitor General on their side of the bench.
Heh.
Your ankles! Grab them you should.
