George Washington Carver had in mind. From the Daily News:
One rat, dry roasted, was found at the Georgia peanut plant blamed for a sweeping salmonella outbreak that has killed eight people across the country and sickened hundreds more.
Jonathan Prather, who was laid off last month when the Peanut Corp. of America plant was shuttered, told CBS News on Tuesday that roaches also ran rampant.
"Roaches get up there in the dry roast," Prather told the Early Show. "Some of them blend in with the peanuts. You'd never know they're there."

Back in the Jimmy Carter days I had a gag roach-clip whose handle was just like that lol ..
(for you youngsters, it's a dope thing .. it was back in an age when people weren't expected to ingest actual cockroaches to keep Murkan business afloat .. we didn't even think much about vermin in our food .. *dog i feel old*)

There has always been vermin in our food. The FDA allows so many parts per million in all our food. Got a bag of flour in your cupboard? Let it set there long enough and little tiny bugs show up. They didn't invade from the outside. The bug eggs are already in there. I know, it's disgusting if you think about it, so don't think about it.

Oh yeah, some how dry roasted rat sounds better than that deep fried squirrel Huckabee liked so much in college.
