Bush to give speech at private event in Canada
Former President George W. Bush's first confirmed speaking engagement since leaving office will take him from Crawford to Canada.
Invitations to the event, billed as "a conversation with George W. Bush," say that the former president will "share his thoughts on his eight momentous years in the Oval Office" during a March 17 speech in Calgary, Alberta.
The event is not open to the public, and organizers declined to say whether Bush will be paid a fee. A spokesman for the newly formed Bush presidential office in Dallas declined to comment.
But here's my favorite bit:
The event is likely to be one of a number of events featuring Bush in the coming months, both domestically and abroad, say those close to the former president.
But others say the former president may not wander too far.
"People have been speculating as to whether he would feel emboldened to travel outside the U.S.," Jillson said. "This barely counts."
"Ah gotta talk fer HOW long?"

I was hoping his first foreign speaking engagement would have been in the Netherlands. ... . but I'm a patient man. As long as he gets there for his last, I'll be happy.

Calgary is oil country...no surprise and oh by the way someone needs to remind that asshole Jillson that Calgary is not in the US.
So does a trip like this generate extra SS costs and who pays for the airfare? My guess is he pays nothing and gets his "thimbleful" which is probably equal to a good annual salary!

Watertiger,
Perhaps you could just . . .allude . . . to this POS in the future instead of posting his photo and bringing his image back into my head...?
Thanks.
Although.... if you could photoshop him hanging from a crossbar all tarred and feathered or in handcuffs or even simply being rolled around underneath a tractor trailer's wheels, it would be nice.

D'you think that attendees will have to leave their shoes at the door?
Posted by: susanp | February 12, 2009 at 11:57 AM
Or...just let that shoe HIT him. PLEASE PLEASE!

'Calgary is not in the US'
Technicality, Queek...U.S. oil interests have been a dominant force in Stampede City for decades, and his best buddy Harper has his electoral riding there.
I'm not surprised that dirty bird Junior picked Calgary for his first post-Prez poop - It's as close to a safely foulable nest as he can ever roost in above the 49th parallel.

Hope springs eternal. Maybe they'll fucking arrest him. Or maybe he'll make a pass at Chris Brown.

I wouldn't expect teh chimp to make too many appearances in the coming years... it's going to be all they can do to keep him sober enough to make it to his front door... expecting anything resembling coherent speechifying would be pointless.
Plus, in the last 8 years he's done more traveling than he had in his previous 54 years so I'm guessing he's about all traveled out and there won't be much of anything that will pry his ass loose from his cave.

Shoes.

What the F*ck could he say that anyone would believe or want to hear?
I would pay $100 if he was at a meeting where we could all throw shoes at the dumb do-nothing-right prick.

I wonder if, now that he's no longer a (fake) prez, the media will be less inclined to cover up his obvious drunkenness, grab-assing, emotional instability, gaffes, insufferable assholishness, and general worthless fuckheadery.
Hope so!

LOL, your gonna wish for Bush/Cheney to come back about mid-summer when you start to realize what Hussein is doing to America...
I know, I know, hopechange, hopechange, he's articulate and dreamy, I know, I know
good luck with him though...

That I would ever be wishing for bush/cheney/torture/greed to come back to power is something that will.not.happen. Go back to wanking off in your basement, troll.

Aptly named ...young Buffoon....aptly named

Why are we letting people of that calibre into our country? Have we no standards? Sheesh, we've turned away much nicer people, for example:
"May 15, 2007 - 4:15pm
The controversial leader of the U.S.-based New Black Panther Party was detained at Toronto's Pearson International Airport on Tuesday, preventing him from speaking at a scheduled event in downtown Toronto.
Canada Customs officials cited a five-year-old misdemeanour offence as the reason they refused entry for Malik Zulu Shabazz."
Do you think he's planning on staying up here to avoid facing the music back home?
There will be music, right?

Hey Buffoon, Bush/Cheney did make me miss Nixon you ignorant tub of shit. No go tell Billo that some liberal commenter on some smear site viscously attacked you.

Please tell me he will be interviewed by Rick Mercer.

A private event, no doubt for a hand-picked audience of sycophants. The good news for Dubya is he probably gets paid more now to do the same damned thing.

Alberta's the only place in Canada this fool could get a speaking gig. In case you didn't know, it's Texas North.

Can't Canada put this drunk on the no-fly list? Oh neva mind - Hang-on Harper, the tin horn Tony Blair.

Fuck man, I just saw a homeless with a better haircut.

Harper is *such* a W wannabe. A friend of mine is heading a project for Shell Oil in Calgary, and the area is--as others here have said--totally oil-power-controlled, so an unsurprising spot for him to be welcome. (Except by most of the Canadians.)
