about the dog in the manger?
Because that's Joe "Short Ride" Lieberman:
Thanks again, DLC and others who shall remain nameless (although they now reside in a very large house in Washington, D.C.) who campaigned for this motherfucker in '06...

If there were a God, Teddy would still be around and Joe would be long gone.
Probably the only known upside to the 2000 election is that the outcome prevented him from ever gaining any power other than that to continuously remind the world what a malignant little nebbish he truly is.

Y'know, Lieberman's like the war--there were plenty of people who were shouting at the top their lungs that the war was going to turn into a giant clusterfuck, and it surely has. Similarly, there were lots of sentient souls who said, "just you wait, despite the fact that you're campaigning for him, Lieberman's going to pick the perfect time to stab you in back while he's fucking you, and he'll do it with that same slack-jawed, floppy mental defective's grin that he's wearing right now" and, sure enough, that's what he's doing.
Almost anywhere else, that would qualify as received wisdom... except in Washington, D.C., home of the knave and the land of the spree....

The "Congressional investigations" that Chris Wallace mentions at the very end (that FOX will be "following") are, of course, JoeLie's newly announced probes into Muslim sleeper cells in our military in the wake of the Ft Hood massacre.

If he doesn't think a public option is necessary, why don't Senators buy their own health insurance?

I must admit that I don't know the dog-and-manger fable. Lieberman always brings me to mind of the one about the fox and the scorpion.

It was all foretold when this guy got the VP spot on the Gore ticket on the reasoning that Lieberman, having led the formal censure of Clinton in the Senate, was an appropriate Beltway-approved "sister souljah moment" for the crippling national tragedy of the Lewinsky affair.
Because the only thing that would have proved a Democratic candidate's serious credentials more than a backstabbing right-wing traitor as his running mate would have been choosing a Republican.
Crippling National Tragedies then: "But... what shall we tell the children?"
Ongoing Operations for Freedom now: "'Fraid your Daddy's been killed in Fuckupistan, Sonny, now come and wave your flag goodbye to your Mommy..."
