Joe Arpaio for Womb Sheriff!

Excellent essay.

Thanks for the link... she argued the point quite succinctly.

Why should we women pay for all the looting and killing and refugee-making of the war-mongers? Old white cowards send other people's children into battle, and they alone profit from the horror.

Why should we atheists pay for the tax-exempt status of the corrupt Catholics, Mormons, and C-streeters (Stupak) who claim their sky-fairy annointed them to rule over *our* bodies? The millions they spend lobbying and messing in politics should be used to help comfort people-in-need OR they ought to lose their exemptions!!!

If Congress doesn't make a law offering equal and universal health care for all of us on an equal basis, strip all of them and all of their staffers of their free health care. That will save us taxpayers a pretty penny, and put some fairness back into the system.

Ohhh, hauksdottir! Exxxxxcellent! :)

Actually, Phila is a "he".

The Stupak ammendment has long-term legal consequences that I haven't heard discussed. IMHO, it's unconstitutional to pass a bill that prohibits federal funds being used for a *legal* medical procedure. If implemented, someone will challenge the constitutionality of the ammendment, and then, voila, the SCOTUS gets their chance to review Roe v. Wade.

davedave, that's a good point. scary. fucking scary.

underhanded way to kill reform.

Welcome to who we are all owned by. Money, corporations and the almighty fundamentalists. If any of us thinks that will change anytime soon is deluding themselves.

There is an entire generation who were brought up being told that to think is to sin. We didn't talk to these folks about issues when they were growing up because we thought it is a waste of time, or they were knuckledraggers unworthy of our attention. We are reaping the rewards of turning our backs on a large portion of society.

I don't recall turning my back on anyone.
I got to see plenty of backs that had been turned on me, though. Better than having to run to avoid the beatings, I'll admit. Those knuckledraggers can haul ass if they think they've got you outnumbered.

Thanks to Phila for writing that.
Eloquent truth.

Maybe someone witty can do a parody on Cheap Tricks song "Dream Police"...rename it Womb Police.

Dylan Ratigan called out one of the Anti-Choice types on MSNBC either last night or today (see Crooks and Liars).

He did an excellent job at calling the Spokeswhore a liar and said this was a back door way of defeating the intent of Roe v. Wade. They can't get it overturned upfront and legal so they'll get these C-Street creeps to do it by insert crap like this in bills that need votes to pass. Guess the Hyde Amendment isn't enough for the fundies so they'll find other ways to hold the country hostage to their demands.
