Since taking office in January, Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker (R) has stripped public workers of their collective bargaining rights, proposed wage cuts to local government employees, and insisted that his “state is broke” and that its public workers are overpaid. But Walker applies a different standard to himself.
Today, the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reveals that Walker is using state funds to pay more than $81,500 a year to the 26-year-old son of a major campaign donor with no college degree and two drunken-driving convictions.
Despite having almost no management experience, UW Madison college dropout Brian Deschane now oversees state environmental and regulatory issues and manages dozens of Commerce Department employees. After only two months on the job, Deschane has already received a 26 percent pay raise and a promotion.

Clearly, college degrees, hard work, competence and a belief in generally staying on the right side of the law are not the attributes in demand today.

Ah, but the GOP tells you that you must go to college, even if you have to go into debt to the tune of up to $200K because their friends will get rich from the interest rates they charge you. But then, they will turn around and outsource all the good jobs to India, Pakistan and China because they can pay "those" people far less than they would have to pay you. Then, when you reach the limit on unemployment, they will refuse to extend it and tell you that you better go accept any job, even it is minimum wage at Starbucks, because YOU have to get adjusted to the new reality and austerity. Now that you don't have health insurance they will take away any possibility of that in the future because they are planning to gut Medicare and replace it by giving the elderly vouchers to help them purchase health insurance on the open market. What the Randians and GOP really want is for us to go away and die, quickly.
