Oh, I had a co-worker once who asked me if it was summer in Europe when it is summer here (I used to lead bike tours in Europe and was talking about my trips). Same woman asked me if Amsterdam was a nice country. *sigh*

In most cultures being ignorant is something to be ashamed about, consequently people quickly learn to educate themselves or at least keep quiet. Not so in the I'm-stupid-for-Jesus-and-proud-of-it culture of the GOP.
